About

The County Commissioners serve as the executive branch of county government. They approve all contracts for the county. They are responsible to see that all county owned properties are properly maintained and insured. They oversee all personnel issues for county employees except wages which are established by the county council. The commissioners serve on the drainage board and solid waste board. The commissioners are also active in promoting economic growth by working closely with the Blackford County Economic Development Corporation. 

Commissioners meet the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioner’s room on the first floor of the courthouse. If a holiday falls on a meeting date, the meeting will be held on Tuesday.
